I’ve determined that the only factors relevant to speed for this derby are wheel alignment and weight. The axle attachment to the car body is a complete crapshoot - very difficult to ensure alignment beyond the first run. Of course axle lubrication is important but it’s a level playing field cause everyone will do that.

I’ve read all sorts of discussion about weight placement but have had the best results by drilling weight rods into the rear of the car, then topping off weight at check-in with sticky weights on the underside.

My guess is that Jo’s car (green) will perform better, but I’ve been wrong before!

Hybrid Radio Panel, NAB Radio Show on Flickr.

I had the great opportunity to sit on this panel and give a presentation of our ongoing work with TagStation (our cloud-based hybrid data services product) and the hybrid radio smartphone apps.

At Renegade Sunday we walked by a nice barber who was giving out free haircuts. The catch? It was “Barber’s Choice” so he got to decide what became of your head. The barber (Greg, http://www.chicagohaircut.com/) was super friendly and gave me a great new style. The kids and Allison were pleased and although it’s still a bit shocking in the mirror, I like it.

When I find something that works for me, I stick with it. After 5+ years using the bag on the left, it has sprung a leak. Though it is an expensive bag, I carried it every day and travelled to NYC, Dallas, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, San Francisco, Iceland, Istanbul, Montreal, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Florida, and probably more places than that. Amortized, it cost me about $1.65 a month and it was worth every penny.

I hope the new bag holds up just as well!
