After a long and stressful day including a flat tire and broken flat, I retired to the back porch for a late dinner by my lonesome, listening to Ekkehard Ehlers “Plays” for the first time in several years. It’s stunningly beautiful, extremely ambient music. I first blogged about this song in 2004, and here’s what I wrote
This comes from Ehler’s “Plays” series - several singles/EPs released seperately, later released as a single CD. On each single Ehlers would compose two tracks that referenced the work of an artist he admired and release the results under the title Plays. Here we’ve got Ehlers interpreting the work of filmmaker John Cassavetes. Think abstract strings, repetition and loops.
A short illustrated book I made on July 3rd depicting seven things I cooked this past week. I was making little blank books for the kids to draw in and decided to do one for myself and I really enjoyed the process. Next time I think I’ll use colored pencils rather than the kids’ markers. Enjoy!
