It's a perfect veggie day
Yesterday was a day filled with buying, cleaning, prepping, and cooking vegetables (and some fruit). I made pickled carrots and radishes, chopped up a pineapple, made 3 quarts of delicious asparagus soup, and finished it off by making grilled baby bok choy for dinner. What a marvelous day of eating and cooking, though my feet are sore now. Wish I would have taken photos of the soup making process...

Post-storm burning sky photos
Just after the storm tonight we stepped outside to see the yellow-orange glow reflecting from the blanket of clouds above our heads. I took off to the intersection of Oak Park Ave and 290 to take photos over the expressway. What an amazing sight. It was a rare and beautiful intersection of light and cloud. Lake Superior rocks

Why Kavarna and the Galts are Pretty Damned...
Allison and I just returned from a short but wonderful trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which is quickly becoming our favorite drivable getaway from Chicago. Crash Years
The New Pornographers new album, Together, is such a terrific indie-pop-rock record. Infectious melodies abound and the fun production keeps things interesting. Here’s a video for “Crash Years,” which is quite nice. Carry on.
