It's a perfect veggie day
Yesterday was a day filled with buying, cleaning, prepping, and cooking vegetables (and some fruit). I made pickled carrots and radishes, chopped up a pineapple, made 3 quarts of delicious asparagus soup, and finished it off by making grilled baby bok choy for dinner. What a marvelous day of eating and cooking, though my feet are sore now. Wish I would have taken photos of the soup making process...

Post-storm burning sky photos
Just after the storm tonight we stepped outside to see the yellow-orange glow reflecting from the blanket of clouds above our heads. I took off to the intersection of Oak Park Ave and 290 to take photos over the expressway. What an amazing sight. It was a rare and beautiful intersection of light and cloud. Why Kavarna and the Galts are Pretty Damned...
Allison and I just returned from a short but wonderful trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which is quickly becoming our favorite drivable getaway from Chicago. One of the best things about going to the U.P. is that we must drive through Green Bay to get there. Green Bay is where Alex and Linda Galt live (with their two adorable little girls). They own and operate Kavarna, a vegetarian...

Crash Years
The New Pornographers new album, Together, is such a terrific indie-pop-rock record. Infectious melodies abound and the fun production keeps things interesting. Here’s a video for “Crash Years,” which is quite nice. Carry on.
