If you haven’t noticed Klepto and the wonderful boards she puts up around Chicago, then you are an unlucky soul. Do yourself a favor and take a look at Klepto’s flickr stream. This recent painting is a favorite of mine:
I’m also completely in love with this newer one. Maybe I’m just crazy about birds.
A favorite old photo of mine from the early days at 247 S. State Street. The sign has since been removed thanks to stuffy people without humour. Here is the original photo caption:
Walt brought this sign into the office, which is funny because it’s centered in a group of cubes where people are developing our Page Management System (affectionately referred to as PMS internally). Ajith, who leads this team, hunkers behind this sign, dutifully working out his PMS.
Last month Chris invited me to see A.A. Bondy with him at Schubas. It was a great show while it lasted, but Mr. Bondy became completely undone by some technical issues. He destroyed one of his guitars (Metallica-style) and nearly smashed his other one a bit later when trouble with cords and amps continued to plague him. It was a shame because I believe he’s among the next generation of great american songwriters. He has a hellova voice and ability to write evocative, non-pretentious, melodic music that hits you deep and stays with you.
"I Can See The Pines Are Dancing" is a straightforward song with such amazing imagery and melody. It’s been stuck in my head for at least a week and now I am sharing it with you.
MAKEDO: I like the looks of this building toy system
MAKEDO is a really simple, reusable building system that allows you to use cardboard and other throw-away items to make all kinds of neat gadgets and structures. Can’t wait to see what my kids do with this!
Bonus is always doing awesomely imaginative and ambitious projects, but “LIVE GIRLS” is one of my favorites. Check his flickr stream for more fun, and don’t miss the heartbreakingly awesome OIL set (pictured below).
