Greg Peterson just made an incredibly gorgeous instrumental record called Postludes. Here is my (current) favorite track: Postlude in F minor by Grg Ptrsn
Watched a long lecture by this Mark Blyth yesterday on austerity and was blown away. This morning on the train I found this (much shorter, produced) video summing up several of the main points. It’s a must watch.
The Watson Institute at Brown University presents Mark Blyth on Austerity.
If you like this as much as i do, you may wish to watch theĀ lecture.

I just finished this book and it is remarkable. Part of me would be happy to start reading it a 2nd time right away.
Pinewood derby cars, ready to race tomorrow night. on Flickr.
I’ve determined that the only factors relevant to speed for this derby are wheel alignment and weight. The axle attachment to the car body is a complete crapshoot - very difficult to ensure alignment beyond the first run. Of course axle lubrication is important but it’s a level playing field cause everyone will do that.
I’ve read all sorts of discussion about weight placement but have had the best results by drilling weight rods into the rear of the car, then topping off weight at check-in with sticky weights on the underside.
My guess is that Jo’s car (green) will perform better, but I’ve been wrong before!
